The Challenge
A North American wine and spirits distributor based out of Stamford, CT, required a mobile application to support their new series of mobile survey tools to be used by employees and distributors of their Execution Excellence portfolio.
The client selected Chateaux to create the first app in the series: “The Big Game” app. Our application development and digital transformation teams were tasked with creating a simple, user-friendly app for field employees to quickly and conveniently document in-store displays created for commercial airtime during The Big Game on February 4, 2018. This app would be for internal use only.
The Approach
After a thorough needs assessment with the client, the Chateaux team began transforming the client’s requirements into functional mockups fine-tuned for the ultimate usability.
Chateaux chose Xamarin platform to develop the mobile apps for both iOS and Android because of its ability to speed up development time and allow for the synchronous development for each platform.
We released the initial version of the app to the Apple Store and Google Play store, receiving first-time approval. Following the initial release, Chateaux has continued to make enhancements and published those updates to both stores.
Key features of the mobile app include:
- Location-based services that automatically find the nearest retailers
- A universal search of stores
- One-click filtering for completed surveys
- Entering store surveys on the spot
- Ability to upload photos along with the surveys
- The ability to add new stores
- Pre-loaded display goals that will assist field employees
- Scoreboard of total cases surveyed, for bragging rights
- Supporting web portal for field sales for review
- Secured Access
The Result
Our team of application developers and digital transformation specialists built a mobile app that centers usability, user adoption, and security. Chateaux also built a backend administrative interface to manage submitted surveys, stores, users, FAQs, and white-listed domains.
In the weeks since rolling out this app, over 600 employees and distributors have used it daily, with tens of thousands of surveys submitted already. The Big Game App replaces the traditional paper-to-Excel method of data entry, providing a faster and more accurate data collection protocol. Feedback about the app has been overwhelmingly positive and field employees are much more efficient.
