Project Description

The client, a large equipment supplier of automotive aftermarket and household hardware products, had just transitioned from using Microsoft Excel and Access to SAP BusinessObjects as their supply chain analytics solution. Chateaux provided a multi-day mentorship session across various parts of the SAP BOBJ product line.

At the beginning of this year, the client’s Supply Chain division—representing 10% of their overall business—transitioned from using Microsoft Excel and Access for reporting on all supply chain information to implementing SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence (Webi). Most employees of the company across all levels were adept Excel and Access users–some were considered super-users of Access, but they lacked the training necessary to get up to speed with Webi. The corresponding universe was not completed yet, which resulted in a lag time between going live and actually starting to use the new SAP solution. The client’s IT department needed a resource to answer questions, troubleshoot issues, and train users on creating ad-hoc reports.
Chateaux provided a multi-day training and mentorship session for a group of ten people in the Supply Chain division. The training involved step-by-step guidance on report writing as well as different methods for resolving issues. A hands-on approach was used to ensure each participant got the most they could out of each session. During the training, the Chateaux team was able to uncover unexpected issues with the way the universe was built; Chateaux determined that the underlying data was connected incorrectly and that those issues would need to be fixed before the client could properly use the BusinessObjects reporting tools.
Through this mentorship, the Chateaux team helped to significantly increase the confidence of the end users, as well as communicate discoveries about the universe to the internal IT team. Chateaux aided the team in meeting all objectives to move towards an effective production environment.
Chateaux’s training was extremely helpful. They were able to quickly figure out what needed to be done to get our team up to speed while sticking to the requested scope of work. Everyone walked away with a comprehensive understanding of the full functionality of Webi.
