Chateaux returned to The 2014 CIO Summit of America as a Platinum sponsor. The annual event held at The Harvard Club of New York attracted over 320 CIOs and IT Leaders from across the nation. IT leaders from diverse industries and companies participated in highly interactive sessions, learning more about offerings from event sponsors including IBM, AppDynamics, and ServiceNow.

The day began with an excellent opening keynote by Roger Gurnani, EVP & CIO, Verizon, on leveraging IT to create competitive advantage within the new digital world. Next was Dave Wright, Chief Strategy Officer, ServiceNow, discussing the evolution of managing service relationships both inside and outside the enterprise.

Don Floyd, Chateaux Senior Enterprise Architect, participated in the executive panel “The Strategic Value of Data Through Business Analytics” along with:

  • Michelle Mosolgo, Executive Director, Global Innovation Venture Technologies, Merck
  • Steve Randich, EVP and CIO, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)
  • Ben Werther, Founder & CEO, Platfora

Cindy Finkelman, VP & CIO, Corporate Center, New York Life Insurance Company, did a great job moderating the discussion and challenged the panelists with difficult questions (for example, whether analytics should be a business function or an IT function). The speakers were able to share actionable advice on how IT leaders could go about implementing an analytics strategy within their organizations and examples of challenges they may face.

Don also addressed the fact that “attitudinal readiness” needs to be a key part of a company’s organizational readiness and change management to evolve into a data-driven culture. The attitudes about data and its importance need to change; process and technology is not enough to drive businesses forward.

“Overall the event provided a great platform to connect with other senior-level IT executives and gain insights from experienced industry thought leaders,” said Ken Zimmerman, Chateaux Principal.
