A leading office equipment leasing organization providing financing to commercial customers did not have a functional data mart and a powerful-enough user interface needed for financial reporting. They wanted to create an enterprise portal that offered outstanding performance where business users could render their own reports.
Increasing customer satisfaction, reducing costs, and streamlining processes were the key drivers that lead one equipment leasing organization to request a comprehensive enterprise solution. Their existing reporting solution contained static reports and limited attributes, reporting directly off extract with no data mart. To achieve their goals, the client requested a solution that included a customized enterprise portal that offered outstanding performance. In conjunction, they required a data mart that enabled reporting for 500+ attributes and metrics across 3 systems; allowed for business users to create their own ad-hoc reports with an intuitive drag and drop interface; and facilitated reporting of historical information – all with superior performance.

The Chateaux team worked closely with business users to determine what information was important to the client on a conceptual level. They also collaborated to verify source mappings (where the information in question could be obtained) as well as determined how to arrange that information to provide maximum effectiveness for the end users. With this information, a bit of modeling, and years of experience with business intelligence architecture, a data mart was incrementally designed and populated with the desired information.
Through the use of Oracle, SQL Server, SSIS, Data Stage and SAP Business Objects, a completely automated reporting solution was created and is now in production and available to users. The power and flexibility of this solution continues to provide vital business insight to an expanding population of users who eagerly request new fields for their own reports. Ultimately, users are free to leverage the extensive set of tested fields to create their own reporting. This enables them to answer the questions they have now and any they may have in the future without having to predict them upfront.
