Project Description

The Network Login Group for one of the world’s largest internet service providers, handling all daily logins for AOL, MSN, Mindspring and Earthlink users, needed ad-hoc KPI metrics as well as ad-hoc query ability for data mining specialists for their 20+ million rows of data per day.

Using a 30-Day Quick Start, Chateaux met with key executives to perform an analysis of the client’s business strategy and to discuss which analytics needed to be incorporated into their applications.

Individual components of Business Objects were utilized to explore organizational leads, enabling them to understand and determine which benchmarks were most applicable to their applications and to support the data sources needed for integration into the application for tracking purposes. Chateaux helped the company define a project plan and advised them on the appropriate objectives in order to realize their business strategy goals.

Chateaux also mentored client leads, enabling them to decide which data to track and which visualizations were the most applicable. Standard product training defined how to use the application, but Chateaux was able to provide deeper insight into selecting the best analytics for corporate benchmarks.

Chateaux also set up extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes in order to transition data from disparate sources so that it could be processed more efficiently.

Chateaux’s solution was to work with our client’s DBAs, Data Modelers, Network Operations, and Business Users to design, implement and deliver a Business Intelligence strategy covering both functional and technological requirements. Chateaux’s custom solution used a SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence solution covering call volume and metrics with respect to the logins, with the stated objective of delivering higher quality to the trouble-shooting and network operations groups. Included in the delivery of this system were complete business analysis from both a functional and technological viewpoint, including methods of delivery of reports, web-enabled delivery, security, training and follow-up support.
Internal analysis that used to take several weeks to compile can now be completed in several hours. This allows the organization to analyze and forecast their result easier and quicker. Senior managers can now view KPI’s across various divisions while analysts can delve into the same data from the same place. Management can now measure, in near-real time, how their divisions are doing versus how they previously did, allowing them to be proactive in their decision making process.
The ability of Chateaux resources to reach out to senior employees within their organization for support, guidance, or to help solve any roadblocks is very helpful. We had some questions about the security feature and were able to work directly with one of Chateaux’s Senior Center of Excellence members with specific knowledge in that area to resolve the issue.
